Best of all, you can join the Guard reserves and enjoy many of the same benefits as active-duty members. If you’re already active duty, you can extend your career without a long re-enlistment by transferring to the reserves. How Do I Get Started in The NMNG?

Serving in the National Guard is hard work; you’ll have to demonstrate to us that you have what it takes to succeed by meeting the Army fitness and weight requirements. If you can complete our minimum number of situps and pullups in two minutes, then run two miles within the time limit, you may have the physical skills we’re looking for. We’ll also require you to take the ASVAB test for placement in one of the New Mexico National Guard Careers. The ASVAB is designed to ensure you serve in an area of The Guard where you’ll have the most opportunity to learn, serve, and use your individual skills.
